26 year old mother of 3, filing for Khula after years of domestic abuse. (SA 103)
SA is 26 years old ,has 3 children under the age of 6 and no means of support. Married in 2014 she has been subjected to continuous physical and verbal abuse. After years of “bearing” up, she was finally driven out of her marital home with her children in December of last year (2020), beaten and emotionally eviscerated, i. She has since been living with her parents with her three children, with no financial support from her husband. At the end of her tether, she is filing for Khula (Right of woman to divorce) and maintenance. Her husband has not returned any of the dowry gifts she brought into her marriage, and in fact has sold the wedding jewellery gifted to her by her parents.
Update 12/10/2021: Final notice has been served to the husband – should he not turn up at the next date, the case will proceed ex-party
